1. Information we collect

We collect information in the ways described below.

Account information

When you create an account or sign in, we may collect:

  • name or display name
  • email address
  • authentication method, such as email/password or Google sign-in
  • account settings and preferences
  • subscription or plan status

Google sign-in

If you sign in with Google, we receive the account information Google provides to us for the openid, email and profile scopes, such as your email address, Google account identifier and optional name or profile photo needed to create or access your Plenoa account.

Guest and browser-local information

You can try some Plenoa features before signing in. Kitchen items, shopping lists, Today meals and Cook Now usage may be stored in your browser.

Guest data stays on your device until you sign in and choose to sync or clear it. Signed-in account data is stored on Plenoa servers.

Meal planning and recipe information

Plenoa is not a medical service and does not provide medical advice. Do not enter medical information unless you need it for your own use of the service.

To provide recipe and meal planning features, we may collect information you enter or save, such as:

  • kitchen items in your pantry, fridge or freezer
  • shopping list items
  • Today meals and weekly plan meals, including meal type and servings
  • account food preferences, including servings, grocery budget, loved, liked, disliked and excluded ingredients, allergies and dietary tags
  • search and filter inputs from Cook Now, Recipe Box and Weekly Plan

  • if you use Send Feedback in the app, the page you were on, your browser user agent and IP address

Payment and subscription information

Paid subscriptions are processed by our payment provider, Creem. We may receive limited payment-related information such as subscription status, plan type, billing interval, renewal or period end dates, provider customer or subscription identifiers and payment status.

Checkout may send your account email to Creem so it can process payment. We do not intentionally store full payment card numbers on Plenoa servers.

Device, usage and analytics information

When you use Plenoa, we may collect technical and usage information, such as:

  • IP address (for example for feedback, rate limiting and abuse prevention)
  • device type, browser type, operating system and language
  • pages viewed, features used and feature usage or quota counts
  • referring pages, links clicked and session information
  • error logs, performance data and diagnostic information

Cookies and similar technologies

Plenoa uses cookies, browser local storage and similar technologies to keep you signed in, protect OAuth and session flows, remember guest or draft preferences on your device, measure site performance and product usage and improve security and prevent abuse.

We do not currently show a cookie consent banner. Analytics and error monitoring tools described in this policy may run when you use Plenoa. When configured, Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and TikTok measurement pixels may also run so we can understand advertising performance. Advertising pixels can be limited later without changing how Plenoa itself works.

2. How we use information

We use information to:

  • create, manage and secure your account
  • provide recipe search, meal planning, substitutions, nutrition estimates, budget estimates and grocery lists
  • personalize recipe and meal recommendations
  • save your preferences, plans, recipes and grocery lists
  • apply free, guest and premium usage limits
  • respond to support, feedback, billing, privacy, legal or security requests
  • improve Plenoa’s content, data quality, search quality and user experience
  • analyze performance, errors and product usage
  • detect, prevent and investigate spam, fraud, abuse, security incidents or policy violations
  • process subscriptions and manage billing-related events
  • comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms

3. AI-assisted features

Some Plenoa features may use AI service providers to help generate, classify, validate or improve recipe and meal planning results.

When AI is used, we may send the information needed to perform the requested feature, such as ingredients, preferences, budget details, planning inputs or relevant structured recipe context. We aim to limit what we send to what is reasonably needed for the feature.

Do not submit highly sensitive information into planning inputs or feedback forms. AI-assisted outputs may be incomplete, inaccurate or unsuitable for your personal needs. Always review ingredients, allergens, nutrition estimates, cooking instructions and food safety details before relying on a result.

4. How we share information

We may share information with:

Service providers

Vendors that help us operate Plenoa. Depending on the feature, this may include hosting and database providers, Google for sign-in, Creem for payments, email delivery, analytics, advertising measurement (Meta and TikTok when configured), error monitoring and AI providers.

Legal, safety and security purposes

We may share information if we believe it is necessary to comply with law, respond to legal requests, protect rights and safety, investigate fraud or abuse, enforce our Terms or protect Plenoa and our users.

Business transfers

If Plenoa is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

With your direction or consent

We may share information when you ask us to do so or when you give us permission.

6. Your choices and privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access the personal information we hold about you, correct inaccurate information, delete certain information, object to or restrict certain processing, withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, request a copy of certain information and appeal a decision if we deny a privacy request, where required by law.

You can edit your profile, food preferences and password in Account settings. You can also delete your account there. For other privacy requests, contact [email protected]. We may ask you to verify your identity before completing the request.

7. Account deletion

You can delete your Plenoa account from Account settings (password confirmation, or Google confirmation if you use Google sign-in). You may also request deletion by contacting [email protected].

When an account is deleted, we delete the account and related user data from Plenoa systems, subject to information we may need to retain for legal, security, fraud prevention, accounting, dispute resolution or legitimate business purposes (for example certain billing webhook records or analytics events that are not tied to your live account).

8. Data retention

We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide Plenoa, maintain your account, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, improve the service, prevent fraud or abuse and maintain security.

Retention periods may vary depending on the type of information and why it was collected. Session, OAuth and password-reset tokens are kept only for limited security lifetimes.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures designed to protect personal information. However, no website, app, database or internet transmission is completely secure. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials confidential and using a strong password.

If you believe your account or data may be at risk, contact [email protected].

10. International users

Plenoa may be operated from, hosted in or supported by providers located in different countries. Your information may be processed in countries that may have data protection laws different from those in your country.

Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers of personal information.

11. Children’s privacy

Plenoa is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to Plenoa, contact [email protected] and we will review the request.

If a higher age threshold applies in your jurisdiction, you should only use Plenoa if you meet that requirement.

13. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the effective date above. If changes are material, we may provide additional notice where required.
